Slip Sliding Away...

Lonely Rivers walked five miles and in the final stretch took a spill. Good thing she had walked five miles ... everything all warmed up and ready to fly ...splitsecond trip over a crack in the sidewalk. Loss of contact with earth, brief instant of amazement that this is happening, maybe it's not happening, oh for sure it is.. the smash, the crash, the glasses flying..the thirty something kind as could be dad out with his two kids running to the rescue, the "No, no, I'm all right. Really, I'm all right!" The short limp to the car. testing truth..no real damage, scraped knees and hands. When sixty four falls, it hurts.

So glad you did not break anything.
The soreness and bruises will go away. But you will remember this.
Sitting on my fence - I fell backwards. Cleaning my truck bed - I tripped over the wire holding the back up. I had a bad fall when I slipped on tire shine I had just put on my car tires. No broken bones. Just sore and bruised. Just mentioning a few of my falls.

I am sorry that you fell, but amazed that you walked 5 miles. A good soak in the tub with epsom salts will draw out some of the soreness.

I fall on a regular basis and there for a while it happened weekly. I hope your not too sore.

I hate it when that happens. And it's always those damn cracks that you'd pass uneventfully any other day! The fact that you broke no bones speaks volumes of your good health. Other 60-somethings would not be so lucky. You're doing something right--good for you!

I find that I am not as embarrassed now when I fall at this age because I know I am dignified ;-) in spite of it! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Ouch! Be thankful it wasn't really bad. A great friend of mine 'just tripped' about a month ago, cracked her eye socket and lost her sight! Unbelievable!

Thank you for visiting me. Your comment brought back so many memories of phone calls made by my mother during my work day .....

When I was snapping a photo for a post a few months ago, I had a similar fall. My witnesses were a mom and her two small children. After thinking essentially the same things you did ~ and not wanting to freak the little ones out ~ I gathered myself up, made certain nothing was broken ~ and said to them "see? I'm OK. I'm not even going to cry !!!" Everyone laughed and I hobbled home. Months later my knees still hurt. I probably should have had x-rays.

Sorry ... but you may get many stories from we 60+ year olds on this topic!!!

Just found your blog.....hope you have healed. The glasses flying, that is sometimes the most scary part for those I've known who took falls, that they couldn't see nor find their glasses.

I'm one of those, "No, no, I'm alright" ones too. ~Mary
